Resume Writing Tips

In doing online research i was able to find 3 helpful website dealing with resume writing:

1- http://www.dailywritingtips.com/resume-writing-tips/
This website gave some great advice when writing your resume. One thing that stuck out to me was the eye opening keypoint elaborating on making sure you use the proper key words: "Most companies (even smaller ones) are already using digital databases to search for candidates. This means that the HR department will run search queries based on specific keywords. Guess what, if your resume doesn’t have the keywords related to the job you are applying for, you will be out even before the game starts. " This is a good point to keep in mind because it increases your chances of landing an interview and perhaps the job, if you're able to present and describe yourself in a way that grabs the employers attention and gives the impression that you are well qualified for the job.

2- http://career-advice.monster.com/resumes-cover-letters/resume-writing-tips/resume-mistakes-pet-peeves/article.aspx
This website was very helpful in telling you things that you DONT do when writing your resume. There are 4 things that can lead to your resume being crumpled and thrown right in the garbage: 1. Abadly formatted resume, 2. An immature resume, 3. Your resume is too templated, and 4. Your resume is sneaky. In reguards to resume being sneaky the website states: "Career expert Abby Kohut says she immediately distrusts people whose resumes have no dates on them. “Gaps are not a problem,” she says. “The problem is when you try to be deceptive." David S. Williams, founder and CEO of salary consultancy SpringRaise, agrees, saying that if you are or have been unemployed, don’t try to hide it. “You may be doing yourself a disservice because you may be a strong candidate for a position, but you tried to hide your current status," he says." SO its best to be straightforward on your resume and use it as a means to tell the history of the progress of your career.

3- http://www.how-to-write-a-resume.org/resume_writing_tips.htm
"You have a very small window of time to get the interest of a hiring manager, therefore being general and scattered will insure that your resume is filed in the "circular file" - i.e. - the trash can. Therefore, it is essential that you take the time before you start your resume to form a clear and targeted objective."  <--- Very important. Make sure you know what your objective is and that it fits the job description and mentions the qualities being asked of you.

INTP- Introverted Intuitive Thinking Perceiving

Usually im not one to buy into the whole personality survey idea, but this particular survey surprised me. My results for the Myer's-Briggs personality test where quite accurate. According to it i am an "architect". I had already diagnosed my personality during yesterdays lesson but i wasnt too sure on what the INTP personality type actually meant in reguards to me specifically. But after reading the  survey description i dhave to say it describes me pretty good. Even down the carrer choice. The number one career field suggestion was education. This is the field i am currently working in and plan to progress in. It also stated It is difficult for an Architect to listen to nonsense, even in a casual conversation, without pointing out the speaker's error. And in any serious discussion or debate Architects are devastating, their skill in framing arguments giving them an enormous advantage. This describes me to a T. Im very self reflecting and might not always be the liudest but i definitely have opinions and morals and im more than willing to let someone know if a certain line is being crossed. "Architects will listen to amateurs if their ideas are useful, and will ignore the experts if theirs are not. Authority derived from office, credential, or celebrity does not impress them. Architects are interested only in what make sense, and thus only statements that are consistent and coherent carry any weight with them. " Im not easily impressed by status whether economical or celebrity-wise. I enjoy the company of people who are real and make sense and who are consistent in their ideas and personality, so anyone has a fair shot at being my friend because i ultimately accept everyone for who they are, flaws and all... Sooo this test was pleasant and reassured my knowledge of who i am as a person.
